There is something that I’m seeing within much of the online business world lately.

You’re probably feeling it too.

There seems to be an intense pressure to put on a show, to be perfect, and to look like an ideal “6-figure,” immaculately dressed, entrepreneurial woman. Because of this pressure, a lot of entrepreneurs seem to be offering services and creating coaching businesses that look pretty much the same, where you can choose to hire those entrepreneurs based on their lifestyle alone.

I mention this because I feel that pressure too sometimes… The pressure to make my own life look a certain way that will be impressive to my audience and potential clients.

And you know what…?Ava above with bouquet

I actually live a very simple life, and I love it.

Now, I don’t mean simple like poverty. Those are very different things. There is even a quote from Charles Fillmore that states: “There is a great difference between the simple life and poverty.”

My life is fairly uncomplicated, and looks like this right now:

~  I rent my house. In fact, I currently don’t wish to own a home, mostly because I desire flexibility more than anything else. Even at my rental house, I maintain a month to month lease, just in case a great opportunity to relocate shows up.

~ I didn’t own a car for about 8 years, and now that I do have one, I fully own it, and have no car loan to pay off each month. I met a man the other day who pays $800 each month toward his car loan, and when we asked him how much he was enjoying the new car, he admitted that he didn’t even like it. Why are people paying so much money for something they don’t even love!? Seems crazy to me.

~ I work in my business about 4 days a week, and spend the rest of the week creating projects (like my book, and several new training programs to bring to wider audiences at conferences and within Universities and companies.)

Ava walking in woods

I like being a “one-woman show” in my business. Yes, I am supported by a few key people in the background (my virtual assistant, writing mentors, publicity coach, and web designer), but for the most part, I enjoy the simplicity of not being “boss” to a team of employees.

~ I like being barefoot. Which you probably already know.

~ I also enjoy clothing swaps and thrift shops. The jacket in this photo was only $3.50, and it makes me feel like a million dollars!

~ This summer, I’m thinking about working a couple days a week at a dahlia farm, simply because it sounds like it would be really fun. A month ago, I asked myself what would make my summer enjoyable, and the answer I got was “Maybe you should work at that flower farm?” I’ve been feeling the need to be around more flower energy lately, mostly because the book I’m writing for women entrepreneurs has a great deal of information about parallels between the natural world and generating wealth.

As you can tell, I am in love with the simplicity of the entrepreneurial life that I’ve designed for myself.

Ava by jet plane

At the same time, I also appreciate wealth in many ways.

I especially like borrowing wealth, like I did when I spent several weeks writing my book in a $1.5 million dollar waterfront mansion. Not long ago, I spent an evening touring 2 private jets. I also like purchasing luxuries for myself, and will gladly spend a large amount of my income on plane tickets, as well as training and education to enrich my life.

But if there’s any message to leave you with today, it’s this:

Don’t feel pressured to look a certain way, have a certain amount of something (number of cars, certain income level) before you go out and offer your services or products to the world.

If you want to live in a 10-foot by 10-foot mini home, please don’t be swayed by the pressure to buy the McMansion. If you feel that you would be satisfied with $8,000 a month in your business, don’t feel like you must push to earn $20,000 a month. And on the flip side, if it is your honest intuitive dream to own a multi-million dollar company, and to be the CEO, go for it.

Wherever you are now, don’t feel pressured to appear as though you are at a certain level before you start helping others. You are already valuable, and your life and business doesn’t ever need to look a particular way.

In the United States, we just finished the biggest tax season of the year. It’s likely that many people (perhaps you?) were sitting in a ball of stress earlier this month, as you finished tax details. Sadly, I have watched several businesses implode during tax season. Some entrepreneurs have such a large tax bill that they are stuck choosing between bankruptcy and closing up. Other businesses look over their financial details and must decide if it’s financially feasible to continue running their business.

Even I was a bit stressed before April 15th, as I waited to find out the amount I owed for my tax bill. I’m not sure about you, but I don’t particularly like the unknown…or waiting, especially when I am waiting to find out how much money I need to pay for something. I could feel my stress levels rising as my imagination dreamt up the worst possible scenario.

The sigh of relief occurred when I found out that my tax bill was only $100 more than I guessed it would be, and everything I needed was sitting in the bank.

Writing a check that morning became a ceremonial moment, and as I prepared to send off thousands, I thanked the money for being there for me. Then, as I walked a few hundred feet to the mailbox to deposit my payment, I felt beauty all around me. The DSCN1670blossoms on the springtime trees were glowing in the sunlight. I felt a sense of contentment. I was about to send this money out with love, and it literally felt blissful. (By the way, sending money out with love is a very important habit to establish if you want to make more money in your business. It encourages money to renew itself, which is exactly what happened, when just 2 hours later, I received an email notifying me about a payment that would immediately be coming my way.)

The reason I’m telling you about this is because my response and reactions to money used to be extremely uncomfortable and constricted (and definitely not blissful at all).

I used to often have thoughts like:

“What if my bills are more than I can handle?”

“I have no idea where I’m going to get more money.”

“Will I be able to replenish the money that I just sent out?”

“This feels so unfair ~ Why are other people making good money in their businesses, and not me?”

Over the last few years, I’ve dedicated much of my focus to healing my own money wounds, and releasing financial constriction. I’ve also been guiding my clients to do the same healing work, and they’ve experienced financial miracles ranging from gifts of hundreds to thousands of dollars in unexpected checks, and new clients showing up in miraculous ways.

I’ve also been thinking about how much I want to support you, especially if money has recently felt uncomfortable, or if you’re wondering how to create more income opportunities in your business.

I recently asked myself:

“What do people need most right now to feel financially supported?”

The answer that came to me was:

“More happiness.”

“And training so that they can create more money through their businesses.”

Dance with Wailea lights small copy

The exciting thing is that “more happiness” is the energetic state of being that easily brings financial opportunities. Happiness is also what I’ve relied on over the years to create money in my own business, and happiness comes first when I am helping a client grow their business. After all, making money should feel like bliss.

This is why I’m going to be leading another round of one of my most loved group programs, 30 Days to Release Your Financial Constriction. It’s one of my favorites to take women through, because it’s so much fun. Over the years, group members have excitedly reported results like new clients contacting them right after the first session. One woman had a new romantic relationship begin during our 30 Days, and another woman even received a gift of $5,000!

Black hat and black carWishing you a lovely start to your week!

I’m just about to finish my work and writing retreat near Los Angeles. Being away always helps me to get clear on my next priorities, and I’ve set a few intentions while on this journey. This is one big intention for the coming year:

I’m looking to speak at more charity fundraising events in 2015.

Speaking at fundraising events has always felt like a very meaningful way for me to participate in society, and I love coming into events to share inspiring stories, and to assist in generating donations for organizations that are doing a lot of great things for the earth and humanity.

If you are on the planning committee for charity fundraising events this year, or know someone who is helping to organize a fundraising gala, please connect with me at Support@AvaWaits.com. I’d love to talk about coming in as your speaker (or potentially an emcee) at the event.

For speaking, I’m more than happy to co-design a speech that will be relevant to the event, and some of the topics I am excited to share more about are:

* Being an example of wealth
* Making money in a way that feels like bliss / How happiness attracts wealth
* Creative business marketing
* Following your passions and designing the professional life of your dreams
* Exiting poverty

In the past few years, I have spoken at women’s events and financial companies, and was invited to give the keynote speech at a United Way fundraiser for women’s education.

As for locations, I’m most easily available for events in the Olympia & Lacey, Washington areas, and the Seattle area. I’ll also be on Maui for 2 weeks in June. Other travel arrangements can definitely be made for states outside of Washington, as well as international events.

Here is a link to my YouTube channel, where you can get a sense of my presentation style. https://www.youtube.com/user/AvaCWaits

If you or someone you know is looking for a speaker, feel free to reach out by emailing Support@AvaWaits.com.

And please pass this email along to all of the fundraising organizers you know.

Thank you,

lemon cupcakesI recently spoke with someone who shared that with their influx of new income, they were gaining extra weight.

This is a legitimate concern of many women, and I hope that by writing about it today, it unveils what could be a hidden belief system and fear that is holding you back from experiencing more wealth in your life.

Ask yourself: Are you worried about becoming overweight if you make more money?

Did you know that there are classes that teach about “diseases of the affluent?” It’s commonly taught in nutritional training programs that cultures with more wealth and easy access to processed foods are also the cultures that experience more disease and excess weight. Author Gay Hendricks has called this “prosperity-induced padding.” No wonder some of us worry that our bodies will change when our income changes! We see the story that more money = more junk food = more weight and ill health.

jam sandwichesEven though weight gain in wealthier cultures is quite common, it does not have to unfold for you like that. Your wealth does not need to lead to any physical burden. It doesn’t have to lead to weight gain, exhaustion, stress, heart attack, and so many other physical ailments.

Sure, you could start eating at restaurants every day, and choosing the overly processed, high-calorie foods that lead to excess pounds and a weakened immune system.

Or, with your growing income, you could purchase some of the most nutritious ingredients on the planet. You can choose the food that will support the longevity and energy of your body. It could be fresh juice, instead of a $5 blended coffee drink. You can opt for organic meals at a local restaurant, instead of heavy portion sizes at a chain of diners.

Ava and Jessica Procini in dressesOf course, today I’m not here to be your weight loss coach. (I’ll leave that to Jessica at http://www.jessicaprocini.com/.)

But I am here to support you in creating a richer life for yourself.

As you create more money, keep this in mind:

Money will amplify habits and tendencies that you already have. You can then choose to keep or change those habits.

This means that if you already have eating or self-care habits that could be harmful to your body, they may be amplified by excess money. Luckily, once you become aware of your habits, you can choose to change them.

And remember, no matter how quickly your income grows, your finances don’t have to dictate how you treat your beautiful body. Your extra income can support your radiant health and happiness, and making more money does not necessarily mean that you will weigh more. If you’ve ever had that fear, it’s time to let it go, and then get out there and share your business with the world.

Ava smiling in SeattleAt the beginning of December, I relocated to Seattle for a workday.

The intention was to find inspiration for an upcoming starlit event in the city that I’m planning for entrepreneurs, and I definitely did.

As you read more, you’ll see that there are several prosperity practices woven into this story that you can use right now to create more richness in your own life and business.

After eating a healthful and early breakfast on the morning I arrived in Seattle, my first stop was Nordstrom’s. As I sifted through the clothes hangers that held $200 bathing suits, I knew that by being there, I was energetically manifesting an amazing future. The saleswoman walked over to me and asked me if I had a trip coming up. After we chatted for a minute about Maui and Los Angeles, she said. “You’re manifesting it.”  Amazing how the first person I talked to in Seattle spoke to me about the topic of manifestation! I knew that the whole day was going to be divinely timed like that.

After browsing shops for an hour, I walked closer to the waterfront. And, as I waited at a crosswalk by a bustling street, a bird pooped right on the top of my head!

That’s good luck, right?

Thankfully, I was wearing a hat, and had conveniently packed a paper towel in my purse, which I used to wipe away the bird poop.

Here's the bird poop hat, hanging up to dry after cleaning it for a second time at my home

Here’s the bird poop hat, hanging up to dry after cleaning it for a second time at my home

To do a more thorough cleaning, I found my way to a sushi restaurant in the middle of the city, which turned into a cozy lunch. Here’s what I did while I was sitting at that sushi bar in the middle of downtown Seattle: I pretended that I was at lunch with several personal development teachers that I very much admire. I could not stop smiling as I envisioned being in the presence of these teachers, who have been in movies, on television, and on stages across the world. By this time, I also thought it was quite funny that I had gotten pooped on by a bird 20 minutes beforehand. I didn’t care at all, and was smiling so much that the sushi chef even complimented my smile before he left for his own lunch break.

Pike Place Inn at Christmas

My business coach and I have recently been talking about Tiffany’s jewelry store, and how going there can assist you in experiencing a new level of wealth. I’ve never been a person to spend thousands of dollars on jewelry, since I value overseas travel more than gold, but that day, I decided to walk into Tiffany’s for the first time ever, and try on gorgeous jewelry.

To be honest, I considered not going in. It’s so easy for stores like that to bring up judgments of our personal worth.

You may sometimes ask yourself:

“Am I worth trying on expensive jewelry?”

“Do I deserve to travel to an expensive city?”

“Do I belong in this high-end store?”

Yes, you do have a right to be there.

A little gift to myself from Nordstrom's

A little gift to myself from Nordstrom’s

After a few minutes of hesitation, I opened the heavy silver doors of Tiffany’s, and walked in feeling as though I deserved to be there. The service was delightful, and I giggled as I tried on diamonds and gold. I also overheard another customer in the room who told the salespeople that his budget that day was three thousand dollars. Yes, it’s true that people can afford whatever it is that you sell, and at whatever price.

As the first piece of jewelry was being handed to me, I momentarily became very self-conscious about my un-manicured fingers (manicures give me hang-nails, so I avoid them). I thought I would be judged on that, but then I realized that the man helping me didn’t have perfectly manicured hands either. I felt a sigh of relief. It did not even matter! We hold ourselves to such high standards sometimes, when it doesn’t even matter.

While I didn’t walk out of Tiffany’s with a piece of silver or gold, I did go home with a set of rings from Nordstrom’s that had been energetically tugging on me since I saw them that morning. I love how they sparkle, and they represent a new vision that I have for my business.

Macys holiday starIt’s your turn now!

It’s time to step into new territory and experience a completely new vision for yourself and your business.

It’s time to feel valuable and to feel deserving.

When you feel more deserving of luxurious experiences, your customers, friends, family and romantic partner will feel that value. The internal shift you make will be reflected back to you through more love, gifts, income, and greater opportunities.

On January 11th, 2014, I’ll be back in the starlit city of Seattle, and I want to meet you there. Join me.

On the playground in kindergarten, I discovered my first huge dental cavity. The dramatic saga that continued around this tooth (getting it pulled, spacers being placed to keep my other teeth from crowding in, and other fillings getting filled without enough Novocain) scared me from the dentist for years. I still get nervous.

There’s a reason I share this story about my cavity, and it’s about your story around money.

Baby MouthFrom my experience with one deteriorating tooth, I developed a story that my teeth were not good teeth, and that I was very prone to cavities. My body molded to my story about my weak teeth, and despite a great diet and meticulous cleaning schedule, I’ve had cavity after cavity. Although I’m working to shift the story, it sometimes still follows me.

What I’ve learned is that when we flow negative energy toward something (this could be a body part, a person, or your financial situation), the thing that we send negative energy to will get worse. It will continue to be a trouble spot in our lives, it will deteriorate (like in the case of my teeth), or it will break down.

Are you hanging on to negative events and situations around money, which you believe are keeping more income from you?

~ Maybe you’ve had low income months in your business, and you’re not sure if that will ever change

~ Maybe you loaned money and it never came back to you, so you’re really nervous about taking risks

~ Maybe you have fear and guilt around being in debt, so you beat yourself up a lot

~ Maybe you don’t believe money will be there for you tomorrow, so you hang tight to what you have, but still watch it slip away

These stories about money may have come into your life when you were young, or they may have occurred more recently. If you think you’re bad at something and you continue to send more feelings of frustration and hopelessness to it, it grows. This could be a financial pit or pit of a dental cavity. These stories will continue to create discomfort in your finances, until something shifts.

Ava with hundredsIt’s time to unravel those beliefs, and get ready to receive even more income, opportunities and clients.

Of course, it’s not always easy to upgrade those stories, and it takes time. That’s why I’m here, to support you now.

A great way to finally leave those negative money stories behind is by joining 30 Days to Release Your Financial Constriction.

It’s a group built on pleasure, and especially pleasure around your finances. (By the way, did you see that there’s a section about making love to money? Yes, you should check that out.)
